When Sci-fi Becomes Real: The Epic Dubai Hyperloop Train

Dubai is all set to become home to the first ever Hyperloop One transport link in the world. It is believed that the transport link will become operational for passengers in the year 2020. For those who don’t know, Hyperloop One is the US-based company that signed an agreement with Dubai after which evaluations were conducted for the establishment of a new train. It is said that the train will have a 500mph train and will travel 150km between Dubai and Abu Dhabi in a mere 12 minutes.

The main purpose behind the inauguration and introduction of this brand-new transport link is that of reducing travel time between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. If anything, travelling between the two cities is going to become a lot easier for people who have to commute for different purposes. Believe it or not, but an average car journey between the two cities ranges about two hours, thereby making travelling between Dubai and Abu Dhabi a misery for commuters.

The company that signed the deal back in 2016 is based in California. The deal, as is expected, was signed in a stylish setting right at the top of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building of the world situated in Dubai. For the record, if things go as planned, this train is going to be the first of its kind in the whole world. For this train to work, Hyperloop electromagnetic technology is going to be used. This technology basically makes use of pods without wheels that travel through low pressure transit tubes at the highest of speeds. Just so you know, this project is going to be somewhat alike that of Japan’s maglev train. However, the basic difference between the two is that it will be able to reach a top speed of 750 mph.

Although a completion date for the project has not been announced as of yet, the one thing for sure is that the project will definitely be completed by the year 2020. The same has been confirmed by Rob Lloyd, CEO of Hyperloop One. The project has already been put to the test in a desert located near Las Vegas and was a success. To make things more interesting, there are also plans of a 50-minute Hyperloop link to be built between Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, and Dubai. At the moment, a plane journey between Riyadh and Dubai takes about two hours.
